The best advice I ever got came very early in my career. A boss once told me that the best way to become an effective manager was to take every boss you have ever had and find the thing they do the absolute best or what you admire about them the most and try to do it as well as them.
As I’ve gone thru my career, I’ve tried to remember this and I keep a list (sometimes I write it down, sometimes it’s mental ) and try to remember to do a self review against those items as often as possible.
